One of the nicest cities to visit in Vietnam is Hoi An. This old port city has a lot of beautiful architecture. Unlike other large Vietnamese cities, it is very quiet in Hoi An. This is partly because cars are prohibited to drive in the center. In addition to the relative tranquility in the city, you can also relax on one of the better beaches around Hoi An: Cua Dai.
Cua Dai beach
The attractive thing is that with 3 kilometers it is a very long beach. This means there is sufficient space for everyone to relax, there’s no need to reserve places on the beach with your towel the night before 😉 Because it is relatively quiet here, it’s a perfect place to recover from a long (round) trip. In addition, it is very easy to reach from Hoi An because it is only 5 kilometers from the city. You can easily reach the beach with both a taxi and a bicycle.
It is very nice to make the bike ride from Hoi An to the beach. Along the way, you will come across many nice shops and restaurants. On Cua Dai itself, you can also enjoy great food and drinks at one of the many restaurants along the beach. You can also rent sunbeds here at very reasonable prices.
Fun Activities Around Cua Dai
Besides just relaxing and reading a book you can also do other activities on Cua Dai beach. Cua Dai is a very good fishing location. You can rent boats and fishing gear on the beach to go fishing for a day.
You can also go snorkeling to catch a glimpse of the marine life. However, sometimes the sea at Cua Dai can be relatively restless, which means that there is poor visibility under water. In addition to fishing and snorkeling, you can also rent a jet ski on the beach.
UNESCO World Heritage List
Hoi An and Cua Dai are just one of the five places in Vietnam that are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The reason for this is that there are still many buildings that were built in the period 1400 to 1800.
This allows you to get a good impression in Hoi An of what a port city looked like at the time. After Hoi An entered the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999, more and more travelers have discovered this beautiful place.
