Hotels in Vietnam – What Can I Expect?

This post was last updated on February 3rd, 2020 at 12:49 pm

Even a seasoned backpacker sometimes stays in a hotel. And there is nothing wrong with that. Hotels in Vietnam are more expensive than the hostels or guesthouses but also offer more luxury and comfort which is sometimes wanted during a trip or vacation. Unfortunately, it is often the case that the “hotel” label does not always mean it’s of better quality than cheaper hostels. In Vietnam, and certainly in the big cities, there are plenty of hotels at a good price/quality ratio.

The Luxury of Hotels in Vietnam

Even travelers traveling on a tight budget can spend the night in a hotel. Because although a hotel sounds more expensive than a guesthouse or hostel; prices are still lower in Vietnam than in North America or Europe.

In addition, it is wonderful to get a warm shower or sleep in a soft bed if you have lived in a budget hostel or guesthouse for a while.

The internet has made a huge advance. With websites like Trivago and Booking.com you only have to type in “Vietnam” and within a second you have almost all available hotels in front of you. Although you can often book a hotel on the spot, it is sometimes useful to book in advance. For example, book in advance for your first night in Vietnam or if you necessarily want to sleep in that one hotel.
